In an attempt to raise Bilingualism throughout the school we will be introducing the ‘Welsh Challenge Award’. Children will be asked to list any key words and phrases which they know and will be encouraged to use these as much as possible during the week both within and beyond the classroom. A class teacher will be appointed as the ‘Explorer’ and all other members of staff as the ‘Observers’. It will be up to the explorer to choose a class in Foundation Phase and a child in KS2 each week who will be crowned ‘Cymro’r Wythnos’ for their use of the language. In our Pupil Praise Assembly, the Foundation Phase class will be given ‘Delyth the Dragon’ to keep for the week and the child in Key stage 2 will be awarded with a special Welsh wristband and certificate and will get to keep ‘Dafydd the Dragon’ in their classroom for the week.
The children will be introduced to Delyth and Dafydd on St David's Day.
